At Rain, we take customer security very seriously. We have invested in sophisticated security solutions to help protect you and allow you to carry out transactions in the safest way possible.
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security for your Rain account which is designed to ensure that you are the only person who can access your account, even in the event that someone else gains access to your password.
It will be a combination of the following (in green box):
To further enhance customer security, from December 9th, 2021, we will be mandating 2FA in the Rain application and website for:
Logins: Functionality to login into Rain application and website.
Send Requests: Functionality to send/transfer crypto currency to another wallet.
Withdrawals: Functionality to transfer fiat currency from your Rain wallet into your bank account or withdraw your funds in fiat currency from your Rain wallet into your bank account.
You can enable 2FA easily within your Rain account by adding an SMS or Authenticator App verification step from ‘Settings’. To read more on how to implement this feature ahead of the mandatory rollout, please read our article here [LINK}.
If you didn't enable 2FA by December 9th, 2021, you don't need to do anything as you will simply be asked for SMS 2FA next time they log in, if you haven't enabled 2FA.
Online service providers are increasingly using 2FA to protect their users' credentials from being misused by hackers who stole a password database or used phishing campaigns to obtain user passwords.
We need to implement 2FA to better protect both your credentials and the resources/funds that you can access.
The most obvious benefit of 2FA is that it greatly improves Rain’s security by adding another layer of security that an intruder would have to penetrate in order to gain access to your Rain account.
The implementation of 2FA makes it more difficult for hackers to gain access to an account. Hence, it enhances the protection of customer monetary funds and accelerates customer trust.
A fraudster attempting to access an account protected by 2FA will encounter more barriers and require more information to breach these barriers to commit fraud.
Not all hacking cases involve a hacker entering commands on his computer to remotely hack your account. Sometimes, all it takes is someone glancing at your laptop or smart device and remembering your password. With 2FA, a password alone is never enough to authenticate a login attempt.
As Rain is regulated by laws/regulations and follows international best practices, hence implementation of 2FA helps us achieve the same.
Two-factor authentication is a security feature that adds security measures, and reduces the likelihood of your account being hacked.
